Balcony & Parades

Our expansive balcony (seating for 25, capacity of 50) is now open Wednesday through Saturday nights from 6pm till midnight and also for ALL Saints Games.

Tuesday night is Improv night on the Balcony with the Stupid Time Machine Improv Group 7.30 till midnight! (cover charge varies from 1 dollar to 6 dollars)

Grab a drink, some of J'anita's fine food and Relax to the sounds of  WWOZ while watching the street cars go by - the quintessential new Orleans experience!

We “ID” everyone who buys drinks, so please have each member of your group bring their identification with them.

BALCONY IS AVAILABLE FOR COMMUNITY NON PROFIT MEETINGS AT NO CHARGE.

Please email or call to arrange the time and dates and we will include your meeting on our calendar. Meetings can be set up in the back room behind the upstairs bar or on the actual balcony. Please ask the bartender where to set up your tables when you arrive. Meetings can not be accomodated in the front room with the TV. Please notify us in advance of coming so we can make sure there is nothing else scheduled for that date.

We ask that you leave the space as clean as you found it and not bring in your own beverages. Food may be brought in as long as it is cleaned up at the end of your meeting. You may order drinks, sodas and coffee or food at the bar and bring it upstairs. The balcony will not be staffed with a bartender except Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights. The balcony is not available for community meetings during parades!

Mardi Gras Tips

The Avenue Pub's balcony is THE place to parade watch during Mardi Gras! With room for 50 of your soon-to-be closest friends (seating for 25) and a clear view over St. Charles Avenue, Mardi Gras parades on the balcony for 2010 are almost fully booked! A few dates and a waiting list for booked dates are still available - email us for details.  Listed is a tentative schedule base on traditional parades routes and dates - most Krewes parade on the same day year after year, so it’s a pretty solid schedule. Final times and dates will be available in the fall. If the date you want shows booked you probably cant have it (that means someone has paid a deposit already). If it shows booked "pending deposit" that means a repeat customer has told me they want it, but hasn’t gotten a deposit to me yet. You may still have a chance if you act quickly!

Renting the balcony means you get the entire upstairs bar with a bartender and your own bathroom. Great to have your own bathroom during a parade! Email for rates.
